Day 12 of 21 "Day Trip to Galway"

We're past the half way point with our time in Ireland, and today we took a day trip to Galway on the west coast near the Cliffs of Moher.  It was an easy train ride from Limerick, and an easy walk around the town.

There was a chance of rain today, but it was clear the entire time we were in Galway. It only started to rain minutes before we boarded the train back to Limerick at 5:50pm.

This is a photo of our 7:30am walk through the Airbnb neighborhood to our bus stop. No rain!

The bus station is in the same building as the train station, so it was an easy transfer to our two-hour train to Galway.

                                                       Snack bar and other essentials

The small piece of land in the background is the Cliffs of Moher. Many people like to see if from the Atlantic Ocean, or to view it from the top. We were content to see it from a distance.

These life preserver stations are smaller than the ones on the golf courses, but they are likely more effective.

Another delicious lunch in Ireland. Goat cheese salad with beets and balsamic dressing. Chicken wings, salad and chips, and of course, "a pint of plain."

A working digital phone booth in the town square, and a very large seagull on top. We noticed they are fed very well by the city so that they don't bother the tourists. It seems to work.

Minutes after taking those sunny pictures of Galway along our walk back to the train station, we saw dark clouds building. When it was time to board the train the skies opened up and poured. But it didn't last long. Our ride back to Ballyneety, Limerick County was mostly sunny with blue skies.

Galway was filled with all sorts of accommodations from youth hostels to first-class Bed & Breakfast and everything in between. And there are countless tours and activities beyond Galway. I can see where we could've spent at least a week in this one part of Ireland, but we knew up front we wouldn't be able to see it all, and that's okay.  Tomorrow will be a day of rest and our last full day at our Airbnb. The following day we'll take a train to Kilkenny.
